Introducing the hoverfly Batman, the butterfly Vanessa, and the bumblebee Bumble Bee: our ambassadors!
75% of the food we eat every day depends on bees, butterflies, bumblebees, hoverflies, and other pollinating insects. They are the silent gardeners of our Planet: by transporting pollen from one flower to another, they enable plant fertilization and the production of fruits and seeds.
Unfortunately, pollinators are in decline due to several factors:
At Fondazione Zoom, the scientific research, outreach, and education entity of the ZOOM biopark, we are committed to protecting biodiversity, particularly wild pollinating insects. With the Bee Zoom project, we are involved in the census and biomonitoring of pollinators to sow native plant species that can ensure their proliferation.
We want to create an ecological corridor that allows butterflies, bees, and all pollinators to thrive in the area. Imagine a traversable place made of trees, plants, and flowers, connecting green and cultivated areas, forests, and meadows, which will be a safe haven for bees, butterflies, bumblebees, and other pollinating insects, providing them with food, water, and shelter.
With your contribution, flower by flower, we can start creating an important ecological corridor, because giving a future to pollinators means giving a future to all of us.
Every donation is important to reach our first goal of €6.000, which will allow us to lay the foundation for this important ecological corridor:
Upon reaching the first goal, we will aim to:
Together we can make a difference:
We are Valentina, Michela, and Yari. We are passionate biologists and researchers, and for years, we have been committed, with Fondazione Zoom, to the study and research to safeguard biodiversity and our precious Planet: we work between Italy and Botswana, joining forces with the common goal of educating as many people as possible about the relationship between humans and nature and creating projects with a tangible and concrete social and environmental impact.
Thank you for your support!
The Bee Zoom Team
Don't leave Batman alone, become his Robin! Every two months, you will receive an email update from biologist Yari about Batman's status in the wild, along with fascinating stories and adventures.
Be a key player in the creation of the ecological corridor. With your donation, you'll receive a very useful PDF guide that helps you discover which plants are suitable for native pollinators, whether you have a balcony or a garden!
A magical experience within the Butterfly Oasis! An expert biologist will guide you on a fascinating journey to discover over 300 tropical butterflies, explaining the parallels between the importance of exotic and native pollinators. During the visit, you'll witness the metamorphosis in the nursery and get up close with chameleons, caterpillars, and stick insects. Includes a ticket to Zoom Torino Biopark.
A unique experience for the whole family to join a researcher in the field during research and census activities. Dress code? Rain boots, sunscreen, and lots of curiosity! We'll provide the net! Donation per person. Date to be arranged.
An exclusive event: entry at 9 AM to see Zoom Biopark waking up, breakfast with an entomologist (the true expert on butterflies and pollinators!), an experience inside the Butterfly Oasis where you'll prepare food for the animals and witness the flight of those born overnight, a guided tour of about 1 hour to discover all the animals hosted at ZOOM, and finally, a dip in one of the two experiential pools! Price per person, the date will be communicated at the end of the campaign. Scheduled for Saturday.
Three 1-hour online meetings to engage your company's employees on corporate sustainability topics. A way to create engagement and think together about how individual actions can make a difference, both at work and in everyday life.
Every gesture counts! For each donation, you will receive a digital background to use on your computer and phone with fun and irreverent images and claims. Theme? Climate change and pollinators in all their forms and variants! Limited edition, 10 different subjects.
