Every beginning has its challenges, but when riding a motorcycle, you can never be careful enough. AIGOR is the digital guardian angel that accompanies novice riders through their first few months on the road— the most critical period. Thanks to an advanced AI, AIGOR observes riding styles without distracting the rider and offers a personalized weekly report to transform experience into awareness. Help us make the roads a safer place: we do not intervene on the handlebars, but rather on the mind of the rider.

The Problem

Every day, thousands of young people get onto their motorcycles without realizing the risks they face—not out of recklessness, but due to a lack of experience and awareness. AIGOR was born precisely for this: to intercept risks through data and prevent them.

What We Will Do Together

AIGOR is a digital guardian angel: an artificial intelligence system that collects, analyzes, and delivers riding data, transforming it into awareness. This is because you cannot improve what you cannot see, and you cannot truly become aware without measuring.

The heart of the project is the detection of danger spots. Intelligent sensors record what happens on the road every day: maneuvers, distances, braking, and critical situations that often go unnoticed. The artificial intelligence analyzes this data and automatically identifies the risks encountered along the path and potentially dangerous behaviors.

The strength of AIGOR lies in its silence. While riding, it does not alert, judge, or distract. It acts after the ride, when the young rider has the chance to review situations and reflect calmly on what actually happened. Every week, the user will receive a report on their smartphone based on their driving data. Not opinions, but evidence. In this way, the device will become an active part of the process, recognizing critical behaviors and providing feedback. Data is not about control, but a tool for growth.

The project will initially involve young riders and their families in the province of Florence, but the ambition is much larger: to transform AIGOR into a scalable, transferable, and accessible solution for everyone via smartphone, and to build shared knowledge based on anonymized data to improve road safety for an entire community.

The AIGOR project is born and grows alongside the Lorenzo Guarnieri Foundation. As a key partner, the Foundation contributed to the co-design of the initiative and will accompany us throughout the entire journey, combining technological innovation and civic engagement.

How to Participate

Citizen science will be central to this project: young riders and their families will not just be recipients, but co-researchers who, by voluntarily and anonymously sharing their riding data, will help produce scientific knowledge beneficial to the safety of the entire community. Thanks to their contribution, we will be able to collect riding data to train our artificial intelligence. Furthermore, anyone can contribute by making their riding experience available to the community through our public portal.

AIGOR will not just be a technological project, but a piece of a broader strategy to change the culture of road safety: from data to awareness, from individual responsibility to a common good that protects an entire generation of youth on two wheels. With your support, we will finance extraordinary equipment to outfit vehicles and develop a free app, making this approach accessible to everyone.

The Technological Solution

The starting point is the RideHawk system, an advanced sensor system developed in America at Virginia Tech. It provides an active safety system based on artificial intelligence that monitors everything happening around the motorcycle, warning you of dangers before you can even see them. This technology has already proven its value in Asia, where traffic is incredibly dense and motorcyclists face daily challenges.

The extraordinary news? We will be the very first to bring it to Europe. It is a leap into the future that allows us to raise safety standards on our roads ahead of anyone else, turning every journey into a calmer and more protected experience.

However, there is an aspect that cannot be overlooked: an advanced device like RideHawk is quite costly, making it an elite research product that is not accessible to everyone. It is an extraordinary tool, but safety should not be a luxury for the few. That is why our challenge is ambitious: starting from the demonstrated effectiveness of RideHawk and the data it can provide us across a small number of vehicles, we want to make it available to everyone through AIGOR.

Our goal is to transform the intelligence of an expensive device into a free, intuitive app that anyone can install on their smartphone. We want the same capability for analyzing and preventing critical situations to be within reach of every motorcyclist, removing the financial barriers of dedicated hardware. In this way, the innovation we are bringing to the continent first will not just be a technological milestone, but a revolution within everyone's reach.

The Journey of AIGOR (Timeline)

We have a precise action plan to turn your support into reality. Here is how our work will develop over the coming months:

  • September – November | The Fleet Launches: we will recruit our rider-researchers and install RideHawk devices on their vehicles to begin initial road data collection.
  • December | Software Development & Data Portal: we will officially start the programming phase of the app, the technological heart of the project.
  • January | Alpha Test: we will release the alpha version of AIGOR. During this delicate phase, recruited riders will test the app in the field to refine its features.
  • February | Beta Release for Backers: the AIGOR app enters beta! It will be made available to all backers, who can preview it and help us perfect it.
  • May | Analysis and Feedback: we will continue data collection and test the effectiveness of the "digests" (data summaries) directly with users to ensure they are clear and useful.
  • April | Final Event and Lab: we will organize an exclusive event to share the research findings.

Come visit us: if you chose the "Research Backstage" or "Rider Virtual Experience" rewards, you will be our guest at the MOVING Lab to discover the secrets of our work live and see how we turn data into safety.

Support Us – Your Contribution is Worth Double!

Help us reach the €12,000 goal: if we succeed, the University of Florence will double the funds available for our project! This is a unique opportunity to give even more strength to AIGOR.

All or nothing: If we do not reach €12,000 by the crowdfunding deadline, every contribution is automatically refunded, and the project does not start.

  • How we will use the funds: We will use the collected funds (€12,000 from crowdfunding and an additional €12,000 matching grant from the University) to equip 10 vehicles with the RideHawk system, create a database of riding data, and use it to complete the development of the training app, which will then be made available to everyone.
  • Beyond the goal: We don't want to stop there. For every extra €1,200, we can add another vehicle to the experimental fleet: the more kilometers we cover, the more data we will have to enhance the training tool and make riding safer for everyone.

Who We Are

The AIGOR team consists of experts in road safety, artificial intelligence, and communication who share a common goal: making safety accessible to everyone. We work at the intersection of research and innovation to transform data into awareness and build a new riding culture together with youth and families, integrating a scientific approach with technical, analytical, and dissemination skills.
