Hello everyone, we are Cristina (founder) and Julie (former volunteer) from FIUMARE: an itinerant project funded by the European Union in 2024 and 2025, born from the collaboration between Italy and Norway, with the Funamboli Association (which manages the ReMida Bologna center) and the Norwegian NGO Norges Miljøvernforbund. Today, it is the association WE DON'T HAVE A SECOND PLAN-ET (that’s, us) that is carrying it forward.
To raise awareness among children, youth, and adults through a mobile classroom and act through environmental cleanups in a traveling project. We focus on marine and terrestrial plastic pollution, which is today one of the most serious global problems, requiring our awareness and, above all, our action towards change. We are itinerant because we believe there are no borders and in nature everything is connected: one person's problem is everyone's problem. We believe in collective responsibility and want to raise awareness among more and more people, everywhere, collecting as much waste as possible in the time we have on this Earth. Since 80% of waste in the sea comes from land, we focus on the connection between our planet's waters (rivers, seas, and lakes) and how they are linked to our cities and our waste through storm drains, discharges, and pipes. Hence the origin of our name: FiuMare (River-Sea).
Not just a simple means of transport (it is a trailer), but a real classroom on four wheels, a meeting space open to all, a traveling educational laboratory that welcomes children, youth, and citizens, positioning itself in different areas of cities and towns. A place for reflection and respectful, inclusive dialogue, the mobile classroom was born from the need to take new generations out of the school environment to experience their local territory. It represents our strong identity.
Whenever a workshop takes place, we arrive, set up, and welcome children in an environment designed, cared for, and inviting, encouraging them to enter our universe through the lenses of discovery, exploration, and awareness, even when addressing complex topics like pollution. We welcome schools of all levels, informal groups, and citizens to raise their awareness. In reality, it is a mutual exchange of knowledge: it is true that we provide environmental education, but we also allow ourselves to be educated by the people we meet, because there is always something to learn. Our educational approach is based on active methodologies, exploration, and shared inquiry, stimulating imagination and creativity as a way to address the complexity of the world and problem-solving, without presenting pre-packaged information. During these two years, all activities were free for participants.
It is unique because it has been modified and adapted to our needs: it is energy autonomous (solar panels), has a screen to share videos and photos, includes 50 chairs and tables to welcome schools, teaching materials for workshops (including many books we use), and equipment for environmental cleanups. It is decorated with stickers featuring our logo and graphic identity. Since we have everything we need, we can go anywhere.
Over the past two years, the project has worked well.
Here are the results for 2024 and 2025:
We were also invited to speak about it by Sveva Sagramola on the TV show Geo (Episode of September 16, 2024), and we have collaborated with several Italian municipalities, other associations, foundations, cooperatives, and maintain contacts with many schools in the areas we traveled through.
Today, we face a choice. In 2026, EU funding has ended, and we must return the mobile classroom, which is not our property but belongs to the Norwegian partner NGO, which can no longer lend us the vehicle long-term. If we do not buy it now, we will lose the opportunity to continue our project. Without it, no more classes, no more meetings, no more actions. We do not want to stop.
We have found the solution: we would like to buy the trailer from our Norwegian partners to continue the journey. Here is the precise detail of our needs to ensure the project’s future :
The total cost of the project is €12,550. Through our own contribution, we will cover taxes, customs, and administrative fees for the trailer (€3,000, as it is registered in Norway) and the hitch mounting (€550). The remaining amount to be raised is €9,000. If we exceed the goal? We will be able to cover our expenses and fund future projects (we have several in mind and would be delighted to talk to you about them).

WE DON'T HAVE A SECOND PLAN-ET is an Italian non-profit association, founded in 2025 and registered as an APS in the RUNTS. Our story began outdoors, not in an office: on a beach, in direct contact with nature. It all started in Norway, where the founder Cristina Li Pera, while volunteering with the NGO Norges Miljøvernforbund, directly faced the urgency of plastic pollution. From this experience, the slogan "We don't have a second plan-et" was born, and the FiuMare project took shape, which is an Italian version of the Norwegian project "Levende Hav".
We believe that change is born from curiosity, creativity, and awareness, not from fear. Every daily choice can contribute to building a cleaner and fairer future. We chose to dedicate ourselves to this cause out of passion and responsibility, with the desire to continue generating impact and involving more and more people. Our mission is to build a community that transforms environmental awareness into concrete actions, to live in harmony with nature and take care of the only planet we have.

That’s why we have decided to minimize production and shipping costs so that the majority of your donations go directly to purchasing our mobile classroom and funding field activities.
